CORVETTE CLUB PRESENTATION
1.   The 6.2 Corvette engine is meant to run warm and you cannot damage it even with hard driving.  It is meant to go 300,000 miles of hard driving.

2.   Common sense is that if you drive your car hard on the track or elsewhere give it time to cool down by taking some cool down laps.  Most of the heating complaints have come from people who immediately take their car on a track, run hard laps and then immediately turn the car off.  Like a runner you need to cool it down after hard use.

3.   DRIVE YOUR CAR!  The worst thing you can do to these cars is to not drive them with the intent of keeping the mileage low.  This is very hard on the car not just because of seals but also because of the built in electronics that are constantly adjusting, measuring and monitoring performance.  If they are not used, they will deteriorate.

4.   Winterization-  maintain fuel level at ¼ full for winterization.  The reason is sulfur in the fuel will corrode electronic sensors when fuel levels are too high.

5.   Don’t wash wheels with wheel cleaner.  Hard on brake pads.  If you do, try to avoid brake pads as much as possible.    Use the deep wheel brush as much as possible.

6.   Dry Brakes after washing!  Do not wash car and then drive into the garage.  Drive around the block and tap the brakes a couple of times.

7.   If you have to clean your brake pads for any reason use denatured alcohol.  Will not compromise brake material.

8.   Throw away any brake fluid that is more than a year old.  Moisture exposure will deteriorate fluid.  Use DOT 3 or 4 and absolutely no silicone fluid.

9.   For Convertible tops and removable hard tops use GM Superlube #12371287 for lubricating contact points.  It must have PTFE and must not have a silicone component.  Silicone draws out oils and moisture.

10.   For weatherstrip use GM Weatherstrip lubricant 3634770 for all weatherstrip preservation and lubrication.  DO NOT USE A SILICONE BASED LUBRICANT!  Again silicone will speed up the drying out process of weatherstrip and shorten its life.

11.   Brake Dust vs. the installation of ceramic disk brakes.  Although brake dust is a cosmetic nuisance, our current brakes provide the best service for our type of driving.  Deal with it.  Ceramic brakes are not as good and only benefit those individuals who “track race” and need to deal with rapid heat disbursement.  They are expensive and are not needed.
