CDT Meeting Minutes Friday, March 12 Prime Steer Restaurant
7:15 PM
Attendance 13 members
President Vickie Gunsch called the March meeting to order.   Minutes of the February 12, 2010 meeting were approved.
Bruce McCollom presented the Treasurer's report.  Opening check balance for the club on 1/06/10 was $3603.93.  Club income amounted to $1489.38 and expenses amounted to $1355.76.  Check book balance as of 3/10/10 was $3737.55.  The Treasures report was accepted.
It was noted that by-law revisions were not sent out last month because of uncertainty of the most recent draft copy.  A motion was made By Bruce McCollom and seconded by Al Braun to send by-law revisions to current and non-current members from 2009 for everyone's information and review.  Only dues paying members however, will be allowed to vote for by-law revisions during the April meeting.  Motion passed.
It was also reinforced by group consensus that only paid up members for 2010 will receive the March newsletter.
Discussion was held on supporting the community initiative of Amber's Dream which consists of financially assisting the effort to build a classic car for a raffle to support the Children's hospital unit at MedCenter One.  Bruce McCollom made a motion to contribute $200 towards Amber's Dream.  The motion was seconded by Val Wangler.  Motion carried.
Mike Neigum reviewed a proposed schedule for Tuesday Cruise Night.  Club members provided input and a schdule will be finalized at the next meeting.  Mike also voluteered to work with the Minot Car Club to meet for dinner in Garrison.  Once finalized, details will be sent to all club members.
Bruce McCollom brought forth to everyones attention that technically the club does not have a duly elected trustee for this current year as required by the by-laws.  Mike Lalonde has graciously filled this role as a volunteer.  It was noted that there has been some club history of electing the past president to this position.  In view of the fact that last year's club president is not a current member, Chuck Horter made a motion to elect Mike Neigum as trustee from the standpoint he is the most current past president.  Val Wangler seconded the motion.  Motion carried.
Discussion on participation in the Buggies and Blues event in Mandan was deferred because of lack of information.
With there being no further business, meeting was adjourned.

Corvette Fun Facts:
1954
As mentioned in the previous newsletter the only color available for the 1953 Corvette was white with red interior.  In 1954 three new exterior colors (blue, red and black) and a new interior color (beige) were offered.  Interesting enough, a manual transmission was listed as an option on the 1954 Corvette, but no model was ordered, manufactured, or delivered that year with a manual transmission.  Sales were sluggish and big changes were coming in 1955.  Stay tuned for this continued saga of the evolution of the Corvette in the April addition!

More Name Game!
Chevelle - French word meaning shovel.
Chevette - Feminine version of the Chevelle.
Mercury Sable - A furry little animal that lives in Northern Asia prized for it's fur.  Not sure why you would name a car after this critter.
Ford Taurus - Simply full of bull.
Volkswagen - German word meaning the people’s car.  For a complete dissertation please contact Val Wangler.
Mustang - Most common assumption is the name is derived from a horse with questionable ancestory, though others theorize it was named after a powder form of orange drink with mustard flavoring.
