CDT Featured Car Club at Buggies and Blues
Corvettes of Dakota Territory will be the featured car club this year at Buggies and Blues.  This is the biggest car show event in the Bismarck/Mandan area and we are smack dab inthe middle of it.  Planning for this event will begin as early as our next meeting.  We want maximum participation from our members and our club will be showcased on main street in the primary viewing area.  This is our day and we will certainly want to make a good impression.    Give us your thoughts and ideas and lets have some fun in June with America's true sportscar!!
T-shirt design has been finalized with two of our club members cars featured for this year. Shirts maybe pre-ordered through Paul Klemetson.  More details will be provided at the next meeting
Participation Incentive.
A participation incentive was recently approved at the last monthly meeting to encourage and reward participation in club events.  Anytime a member and their significant other attends a club function their name will recorded and entered into a grandprize drawing at the end of the year.  This is a fun event and provides an opportunity to reward someone who makes CDT participation a priority!

it was announced that the Cruise Night planning committee would meet right after the meeting to adjourn to consider options for Tueday and weekend cruises for the spring, summer and fall.
Discussion was held regarding another Spring rendezvous with the Minot Corvette Club.  No one was quite sure who the current officer contacts were in the Minot club and Vickie Gunsch said that the club would follow up on initiating contact.
Note:  After the meeting a flyer was found with the Minot Club officers listed.  Val Wangler said he would follow-up to explore a joint social with the Minot group.
Mike Lalonde reported that reservations had been made at the Seven Seas again for the annual CDT Christmas Party scheduled for Saturday, January 14th, 2012.
Glenn Siewert reported that a block of rooms are again available at First Gold Motor Inn in Deadwood for the Spearfish Rally scheduled for July 14th through the 17th.  Room rates are $109/night for Thursday and $119/night for Friday/Saturday.  20 rooms have been blocked for CDT members.  Revervations at First Gold can be made by calling 1-800-274-1876.

President Gunsch said that nothing had been finalized with respect to a caravan to Jasper.  She indicated that a trip to the Corvette Rally  at the Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake might be more of an interest becasue it could be done over a weekend.  A trip to Banff/Jasper would take about 10 days.
President Gunsch said that CDT has been invited to participate in the McLean County Fair Parade in Underwood.  It is scheduled for Saturday, June 11.

Corvette Fun Facts:
1965 Sting Ray
Some folks say the 1965 model was the best of the Sting Rays.  Refinement was the key word again in 1965.  The big news in 65' was the addition of four-wheel disc brakes as standard equipment.  The small block Vettes could always go.  Now they could stop!
Styling changes were held to a minimum, but enthusiasts could always spot a new 65' by the fuctional front fender louvers, new wheel covers and restyled grille.  The 327 small block options continued but the introduction in April of 1965 of the 396-cid big block V-8 marked the beginning of a new era for the Corvette.  Rated at 425 hp and priced at $292.70 the 396 made the fuel-injected Corvette seem superfluous in those days of cheap high-octane gas.
1965 was a vintage, memorable year for Corvette.  It was the only year you could buy a fuel injected, disc-braked Sting Ray.  It was the first year for the big-block and side mounted exhaust.  And with prices starting at $4,106, the 1965 Corvette Sting Ray was also quite a bargain.
Corvette Humor:
A squad car driver was covering his beat when he was amazed to find a former lieutenant on the police force covering the beat also.
He stopped the car and asked "Why Irish Mike, this wouldn't be your new beat out here in the sticks , would it?"
"That it is, " Irish Mike replied grimly, "Ever since I arrested the judge driving his Corvette on the way to the masquerade ball."
"You mean you pinched his honor?"  asked Pat.
"How was I to know that his convict suit was only a costume?" demanded Mike.
"Well," mused Pat, "There's a lesson in this somewhere."
"That there is" replied Irish Mike..." 'Tis wise never to book a judge by his cover."
